Kanae Okada Baptism 3-26-2016

Hello Everyone,

 My area is going crazy and we are having a ton of success so I will only write about the main people we are teaching.

Kanae Okada:  She was baptized Saturday March 26th and confirmed the 27^th. 

Jimmy Mathia:  He has been sober for two weeks and is going to Addiction Recovery Program Twice a week and loves it.  He is excited about his baptismal date of April 9th. We are hoping he will continue to do well. 

Robert Hernandez:  He is still making amazing progress and comes to church. We had an awesome dinner with him and the bishops family this past week.  He is also looking forward to April 9th when he will be baptized.

Kathleen Vetter:  She was depressed a few months ago and stopped meeting with missionaries.   Elder Larson and I started teaching her again a few weeks ago and she has made unbelievable progress.

Jay Taylor:  He is an 8 year old boy who has been coming to church with his grandma for a few months.  He loves church and he is on date baptism on April 2nd but he will probably be the 9th as well because of general conference. 

James:  He has a desire to meet with us and has been contacting us and said thank you for being his guides to true happiness. He gets back from spring break soon and we will start teaching him again

Alondra: Her boyfriend, Herrmann is the Hawaiian guy that is a member of the church.  She get back from spring break soon and she said she wants to get baptized before she left, we will try for the 9th as well.

Camela:  She is the girlfriend of a ward mission leader that is moving into our area next week.  We have appointments to teach her and she plans on baptism soon.  She has been going to church for over a year and wants to be baptized. 

We have more people than that, it’s been crazy good.  I’m learning how to deal with stress (ha ha).  We had a no zero week with our goal sets,  which is all of our standards that we set, we obtained them all.  This never happens, so its pretty awesome.

Harrison's letter March 23, 2016

You’re going to hate me but, the library was closed until 11:30 today and we have meetings at 12:30.  I have to leave early because we have to long drive.

Kanae is getting baptized this Saturday, Robert is scheduled for baptized on the 9th still and Jimmy is progressing.  Alondra is on spring break and we will continue to teach her next week.  We had 7 investigators at church this week!!!  It was pretty awesome!

 On a sad note, one of our ward missionaries died. He was in his early 40's and it was out of nowhere. He was found in his car.  We are working hard and I am reading alot in my free time. I’m in Alma 30  and am trying to read the whole bible so I have read 5 books in the old testament and 1 in the new testament . I just started this past month with reading all this over. I love life and feel like my mission is  going by really, really fast. By the end of next transfer it will be 10 months.  Today is 8 months. I am sorry about the crummy email, but  I got to work.

Ok dad im going to give you another update haha 

Kanae Okada: this is one of Gods miracles, so last Monday we got a call from a member and she told us about kanae. She is a Japanese lady who has a long story but did not know about God till about a few months ago. She has been taught everything and wants to be baptized. So we have been teaching her the lessons with a lady from the ward ( sister katie marler) who served her mission in japan. She will be baptized on the 19th.

Jimmy: i have told you about him and he is still doing ok. he is on date to be baptized on the 19th as well but he has had some hold ups so we will see.

Tyesha: her kids have been reading the childrens book of Mormon. We have not been able to make to much contact with them.  

Kathleen: she was thought by missionaries a while ago but was too depressed. we knocked into her and have been meeting with her week day mornings. i have been using my poems.

Afalea: we knocked into her and have thought her a few lessons and she has a true desire to learn more. 

Danny: so there was a hale/rain storm one night while we were knocking. we were knocking in a place that was no so fun to knock because there were tons of stairs and it was in a rich area, but we found danny who was going through a rough time. he said that he needed us right then and that his house has not been knocked in 5 years. 

Robert: last night we got home at 8:57 and so we decided to go walk around and talk to people. whats crazy is that this had to be perfect timing and we had to walk in the perfect direction. We turned left instead of right and we asked this man if he had a love for god. he said he does and that he just moved to Washington that day and his girlfriend lives in montana and is coming down soon. we gave him a book with our number in it. later that night we got a text from a lady named april. She said that she had been praying that her boyfriend robert would start going to church. so april is the girlfriend in Montana and she is a member of the church and was wanting robert to take the lessons. It was pretty crazy. 

Other than people that we are seeing we are going and giving thankyou cards to the ward members for all they do for us. They have loved them and they are giving us people to teach. We are working on getting blane, burnie, and ron to the temple( recent converts) 

I am reading in alma 13 right now.

I really like your updates.  We had the missionaries over again for the second night in a row. I told them about your guy from Montana and they loved it.  Keep on working hard. I can't believe how many people you are teaching.

Stadium Ward- Round #2 March 2016

Hello Family & Friends,

We got our transfer calls this week and I am staying in Stadium Ward with Elder Larson. The upcoming transfer is for 7 weeks, because the new missionaries that are coming in, are doing 3 weeks in the MTC so my mission is bumped up a week. I am so happy I am staying.  We have a lot of work to do. We got a call yesterday from a member telling us that they have a Japanese lady who has moved in with them and she wants to be baptized, so that was a huge miracle.

This week we knocked on doors and found a less active couple, they had a belief in the gospel, but they just do not want to live it. When we left, my companion and I were very sad for them.   It’s hard seeing someone have so much potential for happiness and just blowing it off. It was so nice to go to dinner this week and see a happy sealed family, who lives the gospel. I’m so happy that I have this gospel in my life.  I love that I’m able to serve a mission and see what the truth can do. I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and I know with out a single doubt that this church is the one and only true church. I can’t describe the pure happiness that I feel in my life. 

I love being a missionary.
