Time is flyin by!!!!

It has been another great week to be a missionary. We had zone conference this past week, so three zones got together for a few hours of training. President Blatter gave a training on Grace which was really good. I had this weird third person thought process through out the day, but I was able to receive some good revelation.

 One of the thoughts I had was on the word "shedding".  We know that there was a physical suffering or shedding that took place through out the atonement mostly in the garden of Gethsemane where he suffered for all our sicknesses, sufferings, temptations, and pains, so he could understand how to draw us near to his father and to give us a way to shed ourselves of imperfections. If life was easy, then the painful performance of the atonement would have been easy, but we know life is hard. Therefore the suffering of the son was for a suffering world. He shed blood so we could shed sin.   

I love all of you so much... time is really going by fast.

TALOFA! (Sabbath Day)

Hello family and friends, 

Another week here in the great WA-TAC.  I was transferred last week and  I love my new area. I live in the "mansion" and if you have not looked up where I live, you should because it's really pretty. 2707 Soundview Dr. University Place, WA.

So I cover two wards, the Soundview ward and Allenmore (Samoan ward). I love them both and this week we had a baptism for a 9-year-old named Markus Foster. He is a cute chubby kid (haha). Elder Hathaway and I (my MTC companion) were knocking like usual and knocked into a very prominent Christian man named Rick. We got to talking and after he told us the flaws of our church we just invited him to church. We said if you come to our church we will come to yours. Long story short Elder Hathaway and I got to go to a "concert" on Sunday after our service haha. It was a good time at LIFE CENTER Christian church, but it was just sad to see how much these people were missing out on. The Sabbath was not being worshipped, but honestly, I believe they did not know. The word Sabbath is spelled with two B's causing the word to be a "sure" word in Greek, meaning we have to do it. It also means to rest, but people have adapted rest to their physical "wants", wherein it actually means to rest in God. I was actually was a little sad when I learned this because I was looking forward to some carefree Sunday afternoon naps and maybe watching a little football after church. However, I did hear President Spencer W. Kimbal tells us it is OK to take a short 30 min nap on Sunday, so saved me there. I think that there is an internal battle with how we treat the Sabbath day, and it comes down to the integrity we have, the choice path we follow and the eternal mansions we desire.

I love my Mission. 

God is Real.

Trump won election and Mom & Dad were on Cruise ship. 11/8/16

This week was amazing. so if you remember a lady named heather and she was progressing a lot and i grew to love her family, but then the dad got all upset and said we cant contact them at all.....well i was walking in the area of her apts and i felt the spirit tell me to go see her. And after saying no in my head i got the prompting again. heathers kids answered the door and the kids yelled "brother chacon!!" and heather did not believe the kids. the husband is out of the picture completely and just the other day the one of her little girls picked up the book or mormon and started reading it. heather told me that if we had came yesterday it would not have made that much difference, but she had just asked which was to have her life go, and then we knocked on the door. The whole family came to church and they are on date to be baptized on the 26th of this month..... i love my mission...

David - Endure to the End 11-1-2016

Dear Family & Friends,

I had another awesome week in the WA-TAC! I have started a fun project that is taking quite awhile. I am going through the Old Testament in chronological order and lineage of the prophets. I can only do that in my free time which isn’t much.  I love studying the lives of people and understanding how God loves each of us and is trying to teach us through his scriptures.  

While studying David I come to learn the true power and meaning of the phrase  "endure to the end". It’s nice knowing that this phrase pertains to everyone.  David started out as a humble shepherd. He became popular after he defeated Goliath. David was a very powerful leader who built up a great army. To make a long story short David lived a wonderful life and was a great leader, but he did not endure to the end. Just like the world we live in today, he was tempted by the ways of the world.  Bathsheba was flirting and teasing David.  He looked upon her, and was not strong enough to resist temptation and he fell.  I have seen families torn apart, Wives have cried to me as children looked up in innocence asking, "Why is my mom crying?"  It is sad to see such harmful things happening to families. 

I think of my future and want to make good chooses.  I tell myself "Do it for the Generations". I know my Grandfathers are close to me, helping me feel the joy of eternal families. I know through God’s plan, families can be together forever.  Don’t be like David, stay strong and Endure to the End!

Dear Family and friends, What is the Sun?

I’m just kidding, but Washington is entering into months where we will hardly see the sun for weeks at a time!  I will miss the sunshine!  This week went really well,.  Sometimes we get so soaked it becomes funny.

It is really weird for me to be training because I see my companion do so many of the same things I used to do. I am really enjoying the experience.   I am learning more about myself and also seeing the ways I have changed. My mission is going by too fast, 9 months left.  It has gone by in a blink and it still blows my mind as how much I have changed.  I love the gospel and love sharing it. I’m grateful for the habits that I have developed.  I’m grateful for the parents I have who started me off on the right track, and are still standing by me. I love you.

Parkland - October 17, 2016

Dear family & friends,

I have had another good week here in the Wa-Tac.  We have had some storms but not as bad as they thought they were going to be. They predicted 50mph winds up to 80 mph gusts, but it was not that bad.  I really love Washington and I'm going to miss it a lot.  I like how they have seasons, but don’t love all the rain.  I feel like my mission is going by too fast. I hit 15 months this week!  By the end of this transfer, I will have spent a quarter of my mission in Parkland. I have good walking legs.  I definitely am ready for a car for the upcoming winter.

This week I was studying in Alma 32 the famous chapter, but I learned something new this time. It starts off by Alma teaching some people and the poor come to him and he stops teaching and turns towards the poor and teaches them. I have served most of my missions in areas that are less affluent, but I have seen where love really comes from. It’s been a learning experience to see who wants Gods help and who wants to help themselves. I believe that it is an important element in our lives to seek help from god and not from ourselves. I personally have been humbled. I know that I am nothing without Jesus Christ.  I know that this is his gospel and I want to live so I can stand shoulder to shoulder with Christ. 

I love you, family. I’m going to Red Robin today and I haven’t been since Havasu and I’m super excited, but I have a problem, I don’t know who will go half burger half salad with me.

Still in Parkland- Training

Its been a busy week here in the wa-tac. I am training a new missionary from utah. He is a cowboy, but a cool one. I see a lot in him what i was like in the beginning of my mission. We have been going hard, but have had a lot of meetings. I love the work and love the people. The mission is going by really fast.

Parkland Sept 24, 2016

He lived in our area so they gave him to us and we called him as soon as we got the text and set up an apt for that night. This guy was a gift from God. He was baptized in Lakewood two years ago but was never confirmed and so he needed to be baptized again. He knew all the lessons and listed them in order for us. He went on to tell us what the law of chastity and word of wisdom are. We were able to meet with him every day this week and he was on Saturday. It was a very spiritual experience, as a companionship.  Things are going very well here in Parkland. Raining Again

another week down in the watac. The rain has come and another winter in hell has started. The football season has started so the peoples tolerance of us has decreased. The people here are crazy about there team. 

So i dont have much time, but this sunday a man from the high council spoke and i liked the story he shared. 

He is a bigger(tall and muscular) and went to the dentist for his teeth cleaning and he does not like the dentist, so the lady did every thing she could to relax him. she had him dip his hads in wax and pput these mittins on and she played instrumental  music. He was sitting in the chair when he said he i know this song. and she said yeah i love this song, someone gave it to me. She said it really relaxes her and gives her peace. He said to her do you want to know the words to this song. He said it goes like this. Keep the commandments, keep the commandments in this there is safety in this there is peace. 

i just liked the story because it just goes to show as president monson said  the commandments arnt there to restrict us and cause us frustration, but the opposite. 

so i love all of you and keep the commandments.... all of them...not just the easy ones. 

Grateful to be taught well and learn from others mistakes

It’s been another good week in the WaTac. We did a lot of knocking and I have had the blessing of dealing with a bunch of adult real life situations that has taught me a lot.  Throughout my whole mission I have dealt with a large amount of people that don’t know how to manage their life. I have learned what I don’t want to do, and what I need to do to have a good life!  I am soooooooo grateful to have grown up in Corona, with the parents I have and the influences that surrounded me, so many people just don’t have that!  

 21 And now that my soul might have joy in you, and that my heart might leave this world with gladness because of you, that I 

might not be brought down with grief and sorrow to the grave, arise

 from the dust, my sons, and be men, and be determined in one mind 

and in one heart, united in all things that ye may not come down into captivity.

(2 Nephi 1:21)  

I can hear my mission president saying this to me. I like it because it’s a pump up scripture. So that’s what I’ve pondered this week.
