I had an awesome Thanksgiving.  it was nice to switch out a bad memory with a good one. I had dinner at the Perkins house and she has made it on my “mom list”. She really cares about the missionaries and is a fun and awesome lady. 

My week was slow because Monday was p-day, Tuesday was normal, Wednesday was district meeting, Thursday was Thanksgiving, Friday was weekly planning, and Sat we went to Brinnon, WA which is 50 miles away (farthest part of our area).  I am excited for this upcoming week to get back on the normal schedule. Transfers are on the 8th and I will know what’s going on this Saturday. 

There was once a little boy who wanted to play with his dad, but the dad was always to busy. The boy would always ask his dad to play catch but the dad would say "I can’t, I’m too busy".  One day the boy asked his father if they could go play catch, and the father being annoyed took a map of the world and ripped it up in to tiny bits and said, "once you put back this map of the world we will go play catch"  The little boy took the pieces and left.  He came back shortly, with the map all in place. The father looked at him in amazement and ask his boy how he did it so fast. The young boy told his dad that he drew a house on the back of the map and said "I knew if I put the house together then the world would be in place too" 

When writing my little sister, Brooke I started to cry when I comprehended the fact that I will be able to be with her forever. 

This gospel is amazing, and I am so grateful to have it in my life.

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. Im not going to go into why but I have never prayed so hard..... I sobbed and groaned and pulled my hair just begging .... repeating "father.....Father please"....

so why would i share this with every one? because as i logged on today i received emails from people that i would have never thought would email me, and not just one person, but 4.... 4 people emailed me who i would have never of thought would. They uplifted me, in a way that they don't know. It solidifies my testimony to know that the spirit can testify to others what to say to help me... I am just a child, just a single person, but i am of worth to my father in heaven, And that has made all the difference to me. I received and email from a high school friend who told me that she has found the gospel and is going to be baptized soon. and i had a dream last night of that experiences. (Im crying in the library haha) But i have felt such an overwhelming amount of love from heavenly father. I know my savior lives, just as i know the day is long.

I can now say with a fervent accord that I am a disciple of Jesus Christ the son of God, I have been called of him, to declare his word, among his people, that they might have everlasting life.

NOVEMBER 16, 2015 - PORT LUDLOW

Hello family and friends,

My companion is elder osmun and I served with him in the mtc, He is from Utah and he and I work very well together. He has been out the same amount of time as I have so there is a lot of trust being put on us out here. Yes, it is cold out here but I am doing fine. Knocking doors from 5-7 is not to fun because its dark by 5 and we are in the woods.  I spoke in church yesterday and talked on the atonement and how it makes us better.   I read my poem and Isaiah 49: 15-16 and a lot of people loved it.  I need to send you a copy of it, I will have it as  proof that I wrote it because a few people wanted it and told me that it  touched a lot of people and is going to spread.( Idk if it will but just put it in a safe place, still sealed).

A miracle happen this week. In the land that no one baptizes we found two people that want to be. While we were knocking 5-7s we asked this lady who was outside her house if she wanted to hear a message about Jesus Christ. She responded no, we then asked if she needed help with anything ,she asked us if we could help her move a TV. So we went to where the tv was and she brought her sister out and we got started to talking and one of them had just had her husband die six months ago on that day and the other sister had her only son leave for college. She was a single mother and her son was a football star and had all of his friends over to hang out so she was that type of mom and now she’s all alone. We started sharing the plan of salvation with them which is unusual for the first thing to teach but as we did we opened a Book of Mormon we had with us and there was a plan of salvation pamphlet, we never put them in the book, but it was amazing how that happened. After we set up a return apt we prayed and I prayed for her husband and comfort of the other sister and they we both crying during the prayer . We told them we were going to come back and get the TV with our car, and when we came back and were walking up they told us that they want to be apart of our church so we put them on date for the 22nd of this month ... which is my 4 month mark! Yes, it was a miracle, we have a baptism date for two and a TV to give away.   haha.

My thought for the week is I just wanted to say that is the scripture that I keep talking about. Isaiah 49:15-16 is perfect for the description of the love that Christ has for us. When it talks about a mother’s compassion, compassion is a word that would also describe the atonement. Even though our mothers were able to bare us they can not bare our sins. "yea they may forget" .... but he will never forget us, and that brings us to the next verse, The word wall is referencing Jerusalem or wall of protection, and the atonement was suffered just out side of the city walls but the path that Christ was brought in on, to be judged, led straight to the temple, (another for the Hebrew word wall). " they walls are continually before me" .... continually means daily sacrifice in Hebrew, and before is referencing him out side the walls of Jerusalem. The ( ; ) that precedes this sentence causes the meaning to change to have some referencing to the atonement. ....LONG story short Christ has preformed the atonement and loves us more that we can imagine, even though we put up walls between us and him. I pray to understand the atonement more, so I can come closer to Christ, but you don’t’ need to know all the details to use it. 

I’m really just venting and writing to help myself better understand, but I can testify that as I read that verse the first time it meant something, but as I read it again in my talk the power of each word changed and with every word fell a tear, knowing that Christ did that for me. 

I love all of you so much, if we all just had an ounce of the love Christ had for us we would not be seeing the stuff that is going on right now. 

Go and do missionary work while you can..."you can count the seeds in an apple, but not the apples in a seed"

Harrison, I got so busy, I did not get your letter off in time. I really enjoyed your poem last week . I am really impressed with your talent in this area. I do have lots of questions that have not been answered. I understand that you are busy on P-Day's and all. I am going to email you , but also mail the email with all my questions. I will leave a blanks so that during the week , you can answer the questions and with mail it back or reply to my email with the answers (which ever you want. I love to get emails from you and use your expereinces in many lessons and even ward council. 

I would love to have a nice long lunch with you or a long paddle board ride  and just ask you some questions about how the last three months have been.Since I can't do that, I put together some of the questions that I would ask. I would really appreciate you answering them for me.

Here are some questions that I have been wondering.

1) Do you eat dinners with the members every night. I know you are to door knock from 5-7, so do you eat before or after or do you just eat on your own ?

Not every night, but most and we eat @4:00pm and members complain about that some times.  The lady that is over our meal calendar looses it quite often, so we sometimes go a while without eating.  Shes’ not the smartest person.

2) How is the tracting going. They don't do it in our mission. Can you explain a little your experience with that. I know at the beginning of your mission, you said it was tough with guns and anti stuff 

We find a ton of people from knocking on doors.  This is something that other missions think does not work, but look at the numbers.  The gun thing… was kinda random.  There are a lot of mean people, but I don’t care anymore.  People will try to Anii us, but after rebuilding my testimony it does not faze me. 

3) How many do you have in your teaching pool on average. ?  A LOT… like we have 8 progressing investigators and there are families in that.  We have about 25-25 potential investigators.  We don’t really stay to long with decent people.

4) How many lessons are you teaching per week ? What is the mission goal. 

We are teaching about 50-60 lessons and of those, there are about 20 tht are set appointments and on goal for baptism is 800.

5) I know you mentioned your ward did not care any about missionary work. Do you go to ward council and give input there or do they not want you there?  I got the ward to like missionaries and we are working with them

6) Do you have a ward mission leader and how is he?  So I have 2 wards that I cover so I have Bro Abersal 70 yrs old and Bro. Richardson 30’s.  They are really good and come out a lot. 

7) What is you average sacrament attendance. Our ward is 250 or so. 1st Ward – 100, 2^nd ward – 100

8) What would you say is the hardest thing on your mission so far?  I would have to say not having enough time to Study… You have prepared me extremely well for a mission.  Thank s for that.  I would also say, not being able to drive. 

9) What do you like the most about your mission so far?  The mission fits me, cool socks, same hair cut, exact obedience is the “Cool” things and It’s perfect for me.

10) What has been your biggest discovery about yourself so far?  I have learned a lot about my  testimony and that I have a huge opportunity to help people come unto Christ.

11) are you taking the medication everyday and how is that going. You seem to be always positive and that is so great to hear.  Yes I am, and it’s going great!

12) are you taking pictures ? and can you send them to us ? Yes, often and they won’t send, so I was thinking I could send my sim card to you guys.

13) Last question. Where are you getting the material for your poems. Do you get to read literature or are you just dreaming this up on your own ?  do you get to watch church videos ? Where did you get the information on the Anti Anti stuff you spoke about a couple of weeks ago ?  I guess this was more than one question. I am just thing about it and no we can’t read that stuff.  The anti gets passed down to Special people within the mission.  I am giving it back today.

Nov 2, 2015 - Port Ludlow - 2nd area

We finally received a real letter from Harrison!  He has been in touch, but his letters were with super short or long poems.  Charles sent him a 15 questions email and we finally got that back from him with Saturday's mail.  I am pleased with his progress and have seen several pictures and he looks happy and healthy.  FYI, a 40 day fast is not what you might think... he will fast for missionary work with a pool of people, with each member of the group fasting for the same purpose but rotate the days.  This explanation is really for his sweet Grandmother, Eva Chacon.  

Thank you for your love and support.  We feel blessed and grateful that Elder Chacon is doing well and progressing with his own testimony as he serves the Lord!

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, I guess its due time that I write a nice long letter.  Now that I am out in the middle of nowhere, I have tons of time to write letters on p-day. I have wrote 11 today. 

        I often stop and think, “Wow, I’m on a mission" Its kind of funny because this life is normal now. My companion is Elder Osmun who is an amazing missionary that I was with in the MTC.  We are two young guys over a huge area. I am driving and it is nice to be back. I felt like a 15 year old again who could not drive, Typically you can’t drive for the first six months and the last transfer of your mission, but are area is so big that we have to have a car. The work WAS terrible here but I am going to change that. We have hit numbers that have not been hit in our area for several months. We have a lady named Gloria on date for the 8th. I am about to start up my second 40 day fast, and am looking forward to it. We are working with the members a lot more and it is kind of weird for me. I know through members there will be many more people brought to the waters of baptism, but its not the instant gratification that I am used to by knocking on doors. We still knock doors and that will not change, but with the experience that I have had with members so far, I am looking forward to the future. I fell like I live in a mansion.  It’s HUGE.  My closet here is bigger than my room back home. Its nice and easy to keep clean with just two people, and every thing else with just two people is easy... planning, appointments, church, dinners.... everything is just so simple in comparison. It’s a lot different being so far away for everything.  I am grateful for the way I was raised because I see a lot of disobedient missionaries out here because no one is around to watch them, but it shows in there countenance when I do see them. Elder Osmun is very obedient which I am thankful for. 

        i have been thinking from time to time about Cabo.  Just for short times, but I definitely took that for granite along with many other things. We watched 17 Miracles on Halloween and I have been thinking a lot about what I really want in a wife... I know I’m just 18... but I’m also Mormon hahah.   In the movie there is a younger couple and they both want to wait till they get to Zion to be sealed. The love that they showed for each other and the standards that they followed I admired. The woman had such a strong testimony, showing her love to God and to her (husband) even till he died. So I asked myself "if I could pick one thing for my wife to have, what would it be?" and it would be to have a solid testimony of this gospel. So that’s what we should have a desire to have. I know I did not until I was out here on my mission, and if it weren't for my trainers I might not have been writing this email. So my challenge and my prayer is that you all pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true. I don’t’ care if you have and received an answer that it is..... Do it again.... I ask every night, and continually receive my answer that it is, and that makes the power of my testimony that much stronger. We all have the ability to talk to God.   Why don’t we use this more often? The only times I prayed when I was home was at church and when my family would ask me to pray. Don’t be me.... there is no point in faking who you are for others. When I bore my testimony it was to please my parents. Now as I bare my conviction of the truthfulness of this gospel and all that it entails, I no longer speak the words of man but the words of Christ. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and no matter how many times I doubt that he saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ in a grove of trees, I receive a witness that he did, and that he did translate the Book of Mormon, and that we have it as proof that God loves all his children and he has given us not only the Book of Mormon but a living prophet to lift us up and to be a mouth piece to all the world. 

You can break the church down, and I did, but when it comes down to it, the church is simply true. I love all of you and that is why I plead with you to strengthen your testimony. Pray, he is there, Speak, he is listening. 

Whenever I am in a situation that is sketchy I tell myself , "Be still my soul" and my companion will say, "The Lord is on our side" 

Friends and family, the Lord is on our side. The world is no longer grey, it is black and white, good and bad. As a missionary I am teaching that last of the grey but as for yourself you need to decide. The atonement is real, use it!  He suffered there for you. Your face was and is in his mind. The one who can help you be the best is someone who has been through the same thing...and He has. 

I leave you with my witness that the Savior lives.

Hello familia, so I am transferring to outer darkness.... Chimacum ... its in the middle of no where and I will be with a greenie that has been out as long as me so it will be fun and we get a car and I have a phobia of being the passenger so I will try to get that worked out.  I will write you guys a letter and am done filling out dads questionnaire and so that should be sufficient enough haha so heather is going to get baptized next week but she is getting really really creepy with me... like stalking me so if you could stop writing her that would be great and don't mention me saying this ... so I need more aderal and a gps ( germin ) that's the brand and I would also like this book "search these things diligently" a personal study guide to the book of Mormon by brian d. garner and then my nice grey jacket that I already have. sorry there are a lot of things that I need haha ...
