Harrison's Priceless poem - "A Mother's Poem"

A Mothers Poem

Held tight in her arms,
The baby boy cried
His face to her chest,
Just trying to hide.
That little boy did not know,
Nor would he ever,
of the arms that held him,
and would leave him never.

His purple face calmed in color,
As he heard her first words,
"I am your mother"
"This life is different, from the one you came,
There is trouble and torment, and man is vain.
I’m happy you came, but sorry you're here,
When trial trips your heart, know the Savior is near"

Months felt like days
as her little boy grew.
Laughter left his lungs
as they played peek-a-boo.

One black shoe and then the other,
Slipped on his feet, as he clung to his mother.
“You're my big brave boy,” as the tie slipped on.
“Now, listen to your leaders, I won’t be gone for so long”.

That short two hours turned to ten years,
as they left church, she was stricken with fear.
Now behind the wheel, her young man smiled,
She looked at him and said "don't be wild"

They both laughed at what was said
but great fear turned the heart,
of the mother in her head.

As the clock sung midnight
and the truck was not home.
Mother began to worry,
"why won’t he answer his phone?"

Her mind started to wonder
Does he pray?  Does he listen?
Does his heart still love the Lord?
Will my son go on a mission?
In her humble prayer, her tears cried love.
"Help my baby boy know who he’s of."

As her heart beat grew,
and she spoke from the core.
She jumped to her feet,
as she heard the front door.

"Sorry mom, I ran out of gas,
what can I say, I like to go fast"
Tears fell off, the mothers nose
As she knew in her heart,
where her baby boy would go
"whats wrong mom?"
as he hugged her goodnight.
She smirked and held him
"just a little fright"

She thanked the Lord, then fell asleep
but woke right up, to an alarming beep.

Now one brown shoe and then the other,
slipped on his feet, as he talked to his mother.
"I’m still your baby boy", as the tie slipped on
"This is not good bye, I won’t be gone for too long"

The car parked, he was all checked in.
The boy looked to his mother,
his mother looked at him.
his red face calmed in color,
as he heard his last words,
"I am your mother"
"This world is different from the one you came,
there is trouble and torment and man is vain.
I’m happy you're leaving,
but sad you won’t be near,
but when trial trips your heart,
know the Savior is near.

He wiped her tears, as he hugged his mom tight
and promised her he would serve with all of his might.
He turned his shoulder
and walked straight way up the stairs
looking back one last time
to see his mother standing there.
One last tear, fell from her chin
as she watched her baby boy
leave home to serve Him.

I am that baby boy, who was held in my moms arms
I am that baby boy who likes to drive fast cars.

to me

I am that baby boy who needed help with my shoes
I am that baby boy who did not know what to do
I am that baby boy who is serveing a mission
because of my mother who would always stop and listen.
